Evie Manning

I am a theatre maker interested in large scale participatory theatre that finds its way through a collaboration with artists, musicians and performers. I have directed three large scale site-specific pieces- The Juniper Tree, a Brothers Grimm adaptation and The Ups and Downs of the Town of Brown, a mock musical spoof about copyright and capitalism and An Indecent Incident based on Dostoevsky's A Nasty Story, adapted by Aisha Zia, which looks at morality and the powers that be, in a walkabout warehouse on Brick Lane with full blown surreal wedding party and pineapple on sticks.

I am also responsible for the inevitable Museum of the People, in response to working in traditional museums which I felt did not include the wealth of people's histories, stories and memories. The Museum of the People opened at Utrophia on the 17th of July 2009 with 25 artists and work of all shapes and sizes and will hopefully go on to tour the British Isles and beyond in mobile form-perhaps a caravan.... The Museum of the People is Incomplete and Needs your Contribution!!!!
