Sanford is the oldest housing
co-op in London. Founded at the end of the 70s by a group of enthusiasts it
was turned from a wasteland into a cosy, green and welcoming environment. At any one time there's
about 150 tenants living in 15 houses and a block of flats that form Sanford
Housing Co-op.
Sanford is a Housing Co-operative. Therefore, all the tenants, as members
of the co-op, are collectively landlords and, thus, responsible for carrying
out the landlord's functions. It's important that all applicants understand
that they will be expected to work for the Co-op.
Although many Sanford residents have frequented Utrophia, the first collaboration between the two happened on September 19th 2009, where Utrophia will be providing a showreel of films from Utrophia-related artists, as part of Sanford's Folkus Festival.
