- JULIANNA BARWICK, SERAFINA STEER, TILE,
LOUP
- Julianna
plays really great music that has loads of textures to it. You
can hear the wood and the rasp of voices and it's coming through
to you with a big heart and hope. With chants and computers and
yesterdays the music is without time or location but with a lot
of 'C'MON', let's do things.
- you
can check out her website www.juliannabarwick.com
- There
will also be other performances from 'Loup' who gave a magical
performance over at the Viewfinder Gallery, involving a collection
of musical trinkets rolling across floors and children intuitively
embellishing. Plus some musings from Serafina Steer, Stephen Molyneux
and friends.

FORTH TO DEPTFORD PROPERLY
- Three
days of events taking place at our dearly beloved project space,
our new cafe, the mindsweeper on the creek and deptford high st
itself. With live performances from Coy Carp Burger, I'm Being
Good, Alma No Fear, Pocket, Revenge of Shinobi, Limn, The Naciente
Quartet, Kenny Process Team, Art Terry, Yeborobo, Shimmy Rivers
and And Canal and many many more. With our main space turned into
'The Snug' a giant bed for people to sleep in the weekend was
amazing and marked another year of the cwm phenomena.

- RANDI
RUSSO AND PAUL MEGNA
- Randi
Russo and Paul Megna both hailing from New York City played at
the Utrophia Project Space as part of their European Tour.
- 'Randi
Russo is a southpaw who spawns unique and interesting chords by
playing her guitar upside-down and backwards. Fans have described
her music as both "sexy and cerebral and pretty
and gritty. As is the mark of the most enduring and adored
artists, Randi innately knows how to mix equal parts of toughness
and tenderness in her songwriting and performances. Her velvety
singing style is as equally intense and beautiful as her guitar
playing is edgy and unusual. Her hypnotic, pulsing guitar riffs
accentuate her raw emotions and brutally honest lyrics. As Venus
Magazine put it, the intensity of her sound is something
to be heard.'
- Paul
Megna aka The Oxygen Ponies will also be playing songs that have
been descibed as 'Gorgeous, hazily atmospheric and intelligently
written...' (SALON.COM/AUDIOPHILE) and also (BIG TAKEOVER) 'Poetic,
with a grisly style.'

- THE MENTALIST ASSOCIATION
- The
Mentalist Association have had many links in to the Utrophia network
(Shimmy Rivers, Hamilton Yarns etc) so we offered them up our

- Drawing
and paintings on the walls, plastecine club, 77 person orchestra,
live acts from the plethora of bands from their network plus 16mm
film made for a memorable night.

- THE BLANKKET / AARON FLINT JAMISON
- The
Blankket is the name of a band with only one person in
it: Steve Kado.
Based in Toronto, Steve is in other bands like Ninja High School
and The Barcelona Pavilion (with whom he recorded a peel session
in 2003, and who were recently on that Colours Are Brighter compilation
Belle and Sebastian put together for charity), Internet (with
Owen Pallett of Final Fantasy). He is also the founder of the
Blocks Recording Club, a worker's co-op that has issued over 40
recordings in Canada including recordings by Final Fantasy, the
Creeping Nobodies, Kids On TV, Tradition and of course the Barcelona
Pavilion and NHS (naturally). Steven also co-curates and organizes
(along with Jon McCurley) the still camera video festival in Toronto.
- This
year the Blankket released "be your own boss" a short
record of Bruce Springsteen covers that details the relationship
between Capital. Human Desire and the inevitable futility of 'escape'.
Currently, The Blankket is at work on a record about Theodor Adorno's
Negative Dialectics and the Culture Industry. New work seeks to
actually work out directly through performance, strategies to
analyse and hopefully understand social/economic choice making.
www.myspace.com/theblankket
- Aaron
Flint Jamison
co-founded the artist-run center the Department of Safety in Anacortes,
WA. He founded and is currently the Editor-in-Chief of Veneer
Magazine. He has exhibited and performed internationally. For
the brief tour of the West Coast and Europe in 2007, he will be
performing the third and final variant of the trilogy Column 12.
Jamison often includes various electronics, computer viruses,
olfactory sensations, smoke and powerful lights in his performances.
