jon purnell: jon purnell's video pieces 'sound of grenville' and 'haunted tate' were shown at utrophia april event at the 291. the pieces are as humourous as they are cutting. satirical and sharp they have a great sense of play and a healthy contempt for the institutions of contemporary art.

sound of grenville: in this short film jon regails his art tutor with his an altered karaoke version of simon & garfunkel's tune 'the sound of silence'. he implores the turner prize winner grenville davey, to explain why his 'cackulike' project (that campaigns for art not to be governed by financial gain) is not successful and a naive dead end sentiment.
haunted tate: spirits running around in passive riot admiring art, absorbed by institution. their meandering forwards the idea that art is a thing of life, physical action, not confined to a frame, a space or a history.
